BLEED • TRIM • SAFE AREA • PIXELS
Build the right print document around the finished size.
Add bleed outside the trim, protect important content inside the safe area, and calculate the exact pixel dimensions for your target resolution.

THE THREE EDGES
Bleed outside, trim in the middle, safety inside
Bleed edge: extend backgrounds and photos all the way here. Trim line: this is the intended finished edge. Safe area: keep text, logos, faces, and other critical details within this inner boundary.
Printer specifications take precedence over general defaults. If your print provider supplies a template, match its bleed and safe-area instructions.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Bleed and safe-area FAQ
Why is bleed added twice?
A 0.125-inch bleed extends beyond both the left and right edges, adding 0.25 inches to the width. The same applies to the top and bottom.
Should backgrounds extend through the bleed?
Yes. Any element intended to reach the finished edge should continue to the outer bleed edge. Do not put important details in the bleed zone.
Can I send the SVG directly to a printer?
It is a physical-size planning guide. Confirm your provider’s accepted format, color settings, bleed specification, and whether guide lines must be removed before production.
