HOW IT WORKS

Exact pixels and useful themes

The point picker reads the displayed image pixel directly. The automatic palette takes a broader view: it samples the image, groups nearby colors, then favors common colors that remain visually distinct.

Photographs contain thousands of subtle variations, so a generated palette is a concise interpretation rather than a complete color inventory.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Color picker FAQ

Can I copy colors for CSS?

Yes. Copy one HEX value from the image or copy the whole palette as numbered CSS custom properties.

Why might a clicked color differ slightly from another program?

Browsers decode and display images in their supported color space. Color-profile handling and screen calibration can cause small differences between applications.

Does PixGauge upload the image?

No. The image remains on your device and all color sampling runs inside your browser.
