Smaller files, same dimensions
PixGauge decodes and re-encodes the image at its original pixel dimensions. JPG and WebP quality settings trade a small amount of visual detail for a smaller file.
PNG is lossless and does not use the quality slider. If a photographic PNG remains large, converting it to WebP or JPG usually produces better savings.

How can I make an image file smaller?
Choose a lower quality setting or export as WebP. PixGauge shows both file sizes so you can compare the result before downloading.
Does compression change the image dimensions?
No. This tool keeps the original pixel width and height. Use the Image Resizer when you want smaller dimensions as well.
Why is my compressed PNG not much smaller?
PNG uses lossless encoding, and browser re-encoding may produce limited savings. Try WebP for photographs or other images that do not require PNG output.
Is my image uploaded?
