Pixel dimensions control the actual amount of image data. With aspect ratio locked, changing the width automatically calculates a matching height so the picture is not stretched.
Reducing an image can make it easier to email, upload, or use on the web. Enlarging estimates new pixels and cannot recreate detail that was not present in the original.

Choose the right output
JPG: Usually best for photographs. Lower quality produces a smaller file but may introduce visible compression artifacts.
PNG: Supports transparency and lossless image data, but photographic files can be larger.
WebP: Often produces smaller web-ready files with strong visual quality and can support transparency.
Resized exports are newly encoded and do not preserve EXIF or other original metadata. Keep your original file as the master copy.

How can I resize an image without stretching it?
Leave Lock aspect ratio enabled. PixGauge calculates the matching dimension whenever you change the width or height.
Does resizing reduce image quality?
Downsizing removes pixels, while enlarging estimates new ones. JPG and WebP exports also use lossy compression. Start from your original image and choose dimensions appropriate for the final use.
Can I convert JPG, PNG, and WebP?
Yes. Select a different output format before resizing. Transparent areas become white when exporting to JPG.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Decoding, resizing, previewing, and exporting all happen locally in your browser.
