Break a reference into manageable sections
A grid makes it easier to compare the position, scale, and angle of shapes one section at a time. Use the same number of rows and columns on your drawing surface, even if the physical surface is larger.
For strong visibility across both light and dark areas, leave Contrast shadow enabled. The fine dark line sits beneath the chosen grid color.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Grid overlay FAQ
Will the export resize my image?
No. The grid is drawn over a canvas with the same pixel dimensions as the source image.
How many grid sections should I use?
Start with a modest grid such as 6 × 6 or 8 × 8. Increase the divisions when the reference contains small details, but avoid making the grid harder to follow than the image itself.
Does PixGauge upload the image?
No. Preview and export happen locally in your browser.
